I was planning and behaving according to this concept that if I focused for the time being in excelling and mastering what I'm doing derived by this passion, just only driven by the passion for doing it, money will come later, but if you focus your effort only because of the money now, you will be short sighted and you will not reach to the same altitude. That's what I heard today about the talented football players in Africa, where this was the first advice to them.

Blogging works

Definitely blogging works. It helps me not only to consolidate my thoughts and ideas but to generate them and formulate and articulate them and yes to generate them. So when I go back and read them there is a chain reaction. Where ideas are generating additional ideas and so on. And helps me to think. Thinking simply is a self dialogue and it is part of the blogging will stimulate your mind to think and to analyze your situations and to conclude the facts about the life.

Career Planning

Because of the blogging there is an emerging plan now consolidated by time. Bits and pieces of this plan is fitting gradually together and gain because of the blogging can stimulate your mind and trigger your mind to think. You are free here to decide and to dream and to plan. I want to start my online master by 2010 to be finished by late 2011. So by the end of 2011 I will be 38 and I have almost 13 year of experience and master. So I want to hit as well the 10k bar and achieve certain level of saving where I didn't think about it yet. I want to think about private business as well like the digital energy. Investing on myself holding master which will cost me 90000 EGP. So my plan that I will claim back this investment in two months of my salary to be 8K equivalent to 40000. then it is worthy. it is time and effort against the earning. I want to start as well my PHD by this time so by 40 I will have it. I'm running out of time. It will be either PHD or MBA to start. MBA dedicated for Oil and Gas. I want as well to boost my learning curve and to cease each chance to step up my career ladder. as a backup plan exploring more opportunities in SLB and being more practical. If the private business will be serious and key objectives then it will be the development of Ocean and the development of the domain knowledge and putting more pressure on the courses and the knowledge gain. scientific thinking and scientific notes have to be accelerated. Career planning is related to your objectives of life and what do you want to achieve in your life.

I enjoy these simple joys in life

This weekend, I managed to reserve some time for reading National Geographic magazine. I really enjoyed it and it was really joyful. Reading it is really giving me some internal peace by keeping my head away from the work stresses. It is good technique for release the pressure and managing the stress. I'm playing in the work some classic music as another way to ease the pressure and soften the harsh environment I have now in the work. Listening to the news is another way because you are not becoming trapped in my problem but it is another escape route to occupy my mind with others problems.

Raising kids

Kids in our life are becoming byproducts rather than cause of our life mission. You have major cause in your life that to raise your kids as best as you can and pay the most attention to their health, emotional health.

May I enjoy some peace

May I enjoy some peace with myself and do really constructive and bright things in my life like reading good novel or good book or listening to the music or reading good scientific paper or going to a museum.

I'm not asking for too much. I'm just asking for enjoying simple things.

sacrifice and change

Don depress yourself. Each change has to go through painful process and sacrifice. If you want to change peace of mind and non headache then you will do nothing and do nothing scenario will be ok till troubles knock your door.

I have to go till the end during this change process and equip myself with the all required tools and shielding myself with shield of knowledge. Wow I like this expression. Knowledge is my shield and my defense weapons.

Affordable enjoyment in the life

There are so many enjoyments can be done and they are so affordable in life but we are not enjoying them.

simple things and can bring some happiness and some joyful spirit to our lives and in our hands but the crazy and the overburden sensation of depression is hindering us from getting them and enjoying them. They can bring to us moments of happiness and cheerful moments.

I started to find them and careful enjoying them as possible as I can against the distractions and the negative effects.

For example I found site has wallpapers for the well known art paintings. It is very simple thing but it may bring level of happiness and joyful to me by looking at them from time and enjoy them. These small moments along the day may bring slowly some happiness to my soul.

Reading news article or watching news or reading national geographic. all of them can bring some moments of internal peace. reading good novel or reading article for curiosity can bring this affordable happiness.

Older Daughter's state

I attended school gathering for my younger daughter. She was a bit inactive and depressed differently from her peers. That has really disturbed me and I can not stop my mind thinking about this event. She was like who is emotionally depressed and who can not enjoy like the others because of inner barriers. Since then, I was trying to interpret what's going on. It was like wake up call for me to pay more attention to my lovely older daughter and to cease the chance and the time to deviate her the normal and healthy life. I'm thinking about consulting children psychiatric to diagnose her and to advise me with what should happen. I'm planning as well to apply some practical actions to get her our of these mode as listed;

- Sharing her the playing. I will play with her like another kid.

- Taking more to her, though I was doing that already but I will talk more and more to her.

- I will help my wife to approach her more and share as well in the playing and to have role playing.

- Giving her more nutritious snacks and meals like honey and chocolate to energize her.

- Creating smiles on her face by joking with her.

Blogging to Book

Wow. That sounds very interesting. A wow achievement in the life where to capture you experience in the life and convert them to material achievement. Probably at certain time of my life I will have the enough quantity and quality of my daily blogging and diaries to be published as a book. Or each certain number of years I can extract some of it and publish it as a PDF format book.

Career Journaling

I read recently about the career journaling. I was searching about this subject where I like the documentation of the actions and the daily tasks. I'm regularly documenting my daily calendar to record each single task I'm doing. the calendar includes high level of details and frequency of my daily tasks and assignments. I'm planning to increase the level of details to make the calendar more informative to work as my career diary. Career diary and career journals are very effective practice and habit in the work where you can explore new ideas and increase the level of understanding. I was doing that on paper but not a full career diary but scientific diary about the technical issues facing me in my daily work. Writing about them and trying to understand them and investigate them through deep thinking about each single point of them. I turned my work tasks to areas of research and thorough studying and investigation. that was very helpful for my career and it is giving me confidence and boosting my career day after day. I will elaborate further on this practice in y life.

it was not far old days ..but it is history now

I'm in the mode now of searching for new company by submitting my resume here and there. I was getting some tips and advices from the internet and job seeking blogs about the job search management tools and best practices.

I just remembered my first old days of job searching. wow it was painful and exhausting mission. I wrote my CV in one of the printing centers and printed it and created several photo copies of it.

And the deadly mission started by visiting the all companies offices and handing the CV to the reception desk.

I remember that I went with my friends in this deadly mission and it was very sunny day and I was hot by the scorching sun.

When I quit from first company and went again through job searching stage I had to update my CV and print it. Again the painful process started by going to the companies offices one by one to distribute my CV manually.

Now I've the all tools to produce my CV, send it, track it.

Internet and software applications and communications are changing our life day after day and the level of intelligence and effort and time saving is amazing where we can utilize them in more smart and intelligent tasks.

Yes. It was really primitive ways during this old era (11 years ago :) ) till I was blessed by the technology to ease my life.

New Ideas , creative ideas

I attended yesterday internal symposium for Schlumberger. I 've seen several news ideas and early stage - prototype - of methodologies. People sometimes are rushing by questioning the business value of them . This kind of discussion may kill these green ideas. We should encourage these ideas and mature them to the mature stage and pushing them to the value chain to generate value.

Wealth of information..I will retain each single bit of it.

Again, I collected wealth of information and scientific knowledge from internal Schlumberger event. As it is already deepened habit, I have the passion to retain this information and to think about it and to evolve it to next levels in the knowledge chain or knowledge cycle.

I deeply think about each single bit of these information and this open unlimited world of additional knowledge. I think I'm fully recognized now as a key knowledgeable person so the gains and the returns are coming. I'm not worry about that. This in-depth and multi-domain knowledge has given me great self confidence to question, to ask and to challenge people and to be outspoken.

As I decided before, It is very good and constructive habit and this will lead me sometime to totally well recognized and well positioned level if I will continue evolving it and growing it day after day.

My status always will either receiving new information or thinking about already given information. Secondly each single bit of information is so precious and valueless and I will not let it to go. I will retain each one of them.

Online education

Online education and internet videos are changing the way we learn and the accessibility to the education materials.

Youtube edu initiative of collecting hundreds of universities courses in one portal and Khan Academy in addition to many other initiatives are really opening wide gate for changing the education from paid education to limited category to open education culture where the information, knowledge and science is free for everyone and we will pay for something else. The number of the educated and smart people will definitely increase exponentially.

I will contribute someday to this noble goal. I 'm thinking about establishing online educational academy for the earth sciences where my domain is related to. It is one of the most closed knowledge domains because the challenging subjects and the expensive courses related to it.

I wish it will be the first education portal for each geoscientist, petroleum engineer, earth science student.

Now I'm accumulating the knowledge piece by piece to be ready for this great and noble mission.

Why am I blogging?

I didn't get before the idea behind the personal blogging. I was trying to understand what is the big deal about it and why the world is so eager for a space to dump their ideas.

these are my motivations for blogging;

1- improving my english writing. yes it matters because our business life is full of written communications and it is vital skill in the career life.

Again, I will write about this point, the passion for science and knowledge.

I appreciate now the tremendous value for each bit of information. I have this feeling that I want to hold and embrace each single and bit of information received and I will not let it go. How to make and construct powerpoint presentation?

Today I have presentation in Schlumberger Symposium 2010 of ING. I had to rap-up quicly presentation for the event. I changed this time the way I compile such type of presentations so what I have done.

1) Firstly I brainstormed my mind about the presentation during the previous couple of days.

2) The brainstorming was simply the thinking about the presentation in the car, shower, bathroom, walking, etc..

3) Include in the brainstorming the design of the slides.

3) write down on papers the ideas and sketch the design.

4) go by the time to deeper levels of details to mature the ideas and the design.

5) last step was realizing them on powerpoint presentation.

So following this approach this time has accelerate the process and I've done in more smart and intelligent way. It has enriched as well the presentation content.

My main concept was; Don't start working with thinking and collecting the all ideas. My previous way was opening the powerpoint and going through painful process to create the ideas the slide designs, it was painful because simply I didn't give it the enough time of thinking and storming my brain to create and generate ideas.

Micro financing

The accessibility to the money lenders usually restricted to the big business men, corporates and the educated people, property holders. There is a huge slice of the community who can invest as well this money but they don't have the above privileges to benefit from and to benefit the society.

It was experimented successfully in Bangladesh and it has proven that it is effective and practical way to transfer great part of the society from deep poverty to accepted level.

In Egypt we have dependent wives, widows or uneducated persons who can be turned to productive persons by just lending them sewing machine, or chicken raising or any of these small business, there are thousands of ideas and works can be done by this category and it needs the minimum level of follow-up and supervision to ensure the streaming of the business.

Micro financing needs complete structure of several elements to produce its fruits;

1) As a passive and aliened people in the society we need to approach them and encourage them with zero risk projects.

2) Close monitoring and supervision in the start till they prove their responsible independence.

3) Giving them chance to be supplier from wherever they are , for a big machinery market.

4) Leading examples from the same category ( village women, illiterate men, ex-homeless..).

5) Growing their business by the time.

6) Plain and simple communication way. Don't ask the village worker about the expected ROI (return on investment if you don't know).

I'm pretty sure that I can prove mathematically that circulating the saving in this category can be profitable like or probably more than some of the big projects.

Innovation ..is it adventure?

encouragement of innovations needs adventurous business managers who can take the initiative, who has the vision, who can believe and appreciate the employees based on not only their productivity but their creativity as well and turn this creativity to productive products in the continuous improvement of the process and the value added process.

There is risk associated with the new innovation that it may mis-shot the financial objective particularly it needs potential investment but there is best practice ways to mitigate these risks without damping the new ideas all the time because of this risk fear.

remember always no risk no reward.

Innovation based business

Companies and organizations are talking so much about the value of ideas and innovations. However there are few organization and companies all over the world who are really appreciating the value of the innovative community and encouraging and healthy atmosphere and business environment for the creativity and innovation.

The innovation is beyond only dedicating budget for R&D. Innovation and creativity could be the norm and the attitude of the whole organization by creating think and new ideas tank and creating complete system who is pushing the creativity up to the limit and offsetting the organization from the very traditional model.

This requires complete sets of elements to be in place to convert the business environment to fertile and breeding soil for the new ideas to grow and to mature and to be profitable.

Each commercial product was an idea. This idea has found someone to support and fund it till it has grown to the mature stage.

The innovation can be between just new creative bit of idea which can save couple of minutes in doing repeatable process to breakthrough invention or game changing product. What it is , it has be appreciated. People has resistance to believe in the value of the new ideas and the first reactions always is questioning the value of it. This kills many ideas in the embryonic stage. Ideas need chance to grow to at least the prototype stage.
